Vintage Treasures

Vintage Treasures

Ever since I was in primary school I was always intrigued and facinated by vintage clothes; wondering and imagining where and how they had worn this particular hat or dress or earrings.

My mother had several friends who were well over her age, probably closer to their 70's, and when we'd visit their home I remember them at times giving my mom clothes they no longer wanted or used (clothes from their yesterdays). On days like those I remember I couldn't wait to get home to try on the clothes or jewelry we'd been given - lol. These items they were tossing out were my treasures. The clothes were different from what was in the stores and what everyone else was wearing, they were unique, from another time and I loved it. To this day, one of my favorite go to handbags is a black Italian leather clutch I was given by this cute little old lady (whinee) when I was in the 5th grade.

In middle school and high school my style was more on the punk side - dickies, vintage graphic tees and high top converse, with very heavy black eye liner (lol). Back then and even today my go to places to shop are local thrift stores - you never what you're going to find and that's exciting, well, to me it is, haha.

Alright, enough of the ramble. Below are a few photos from our time at the Mcnay Museum Gardens and my latest vintage find - a white silk and lace top that in my opinion is freaking gorgeous!
